The Ministry of Environment, Solid Waste Management, and Climate Change has planned various events for Earth Day, an international event celebrated on April 22nd each year.
This year’s theme is Planet vs. Plastics. To commemorate Earth Day 2024, the following activities are scheduled:
– An awards ceremony for an informative poster contest, a short film video contest, and a 3D model contest.
– Launch of a mobile application called MONATIR, which will provide the public with vital and dynamic environmental information, including air quality index, penalties for major environmental violations, details of importers/manufacturers of biodegradable/compostable bags and single-use bags.
– A public awareness campaign through conferences, radio programs, and a message broadcast on the Ministry of Environment’s website.
Overall, the aim of these activities is to raise awareness about environmental issues and encourage sustainable practices. Earth Day serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting our planet and taking action to address environmental challenges. Let us all come together to make a difference and create a greener, cleaner future for generations to come.
