The Sergeant-at-Arms, Sub-Inspector (SI) Anirood Bundhoo, aged 62, passed away last Thursday due to health issues. According to close sources, he had contracted dengue fever and, despite medical treatment and political connections, did not survive.

With a remarkable 36-year career in law enforcement, Anirood Bundhoo had been serving as Sergeant-at-Arms since March 23, 2021, taking over from ASP Vinod Pannoo. This was not his first time in this role, as he had previously temporarily held the position following the passing of ASP Kishore Chandra Munroop on September 27, 2014, from October 18 to December 15, 2014. His return in March 2021 came after ASP Pannoo’s departure.

Anirood Bundhoo’s passing marks the third departure of a Sergeant-at-Arms since 2005. The first to hold this position was Chief Inspector Raudhay, followed by ASP Kishore Chandra Munroop, who passed away in 2014 after serving in the role since July 12, 2005.

The funeral of SI Anirood Bundhoo took place on Friday in Petit-Raffray. A new Sergeant-at-Arms will soon be appointed to succeed SI Anirood Bundhoo.
