Financial contributions totaling Rs 1.2 million were donated by Toyota (Mauritius) Ltd to various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as part of the group’s Corporate Social Responsibility. In this context, a symbolic donation ceremony was held last Friday. Toyota (Mauritius) Ltd aims to recognize the efforts of NGOs in achieving national CSR goals, encouraging them to continue their activities in this direction.
The event was attended by the President of the Republic, Prithvirajsing Roopun. The Vice President, Eddy Boissézon, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Mauritius, Masahiro Kan, the Managing Director of Toyota (Mauritius) Ltd, Arvind Issur, and representatives from several NGOs were also present. President Roopun expressed his gratitude to Toyota (Mauritius) Ltd for their generous donation to NGOs, enabling them to better cater to the well-being of the population and improve the lives of vulnerable individuals. He commended Toyota (Mauritius) Ltd for their dedication and outstanding services to the community over the past 60 years. The brand is globally recognized for its quality products and the company utilizes the latest technologies, placing innovation at the forefront, he noted. Prithvirajsing Roopun also lauded the private sector as a strong partner in supporting the government in the socio-economic development of the country while maintaining peace and stability.
Ambassador Masahiro Kan mentioned the longstanding popularity of Japanese products among Mauritians and reaffirmed the Japanese government’s intention to continue collaborating with Mauritius. He highlighted the assistance provided by Toyota (Mauritius) Ltd to NGOs in terms of healthcare, education, and other facilities, which he believes will aid people in need.
Arvind Issur, on his part, stated that several activities will be organized to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Toyota (Mauritius) Ltd this year. He acknowledged the significant contribution of the population in ensuring the success of the local business. He further reaffirmed Toyota (Mauritius) Ltd’s commitment to fulfilling its civic duties, working for the well-being of the population, emphasizing that the company has always supported the government’s policy on Corporate Social Responsibility.
