The procedures for the construction of a new footbridge in Roche-Bois have been initiated, confirms an official from the Ministry of Infrastructure.

According to our information, the authorities will work on the construction of a new iron structure as soon as possible.

It is worth noting that the concrete footbridge in Roche-Bois was destroyed when a trailer carrying a concrete pump for a construction company, based in Baie-du-Tombeau, passed through. The pump, which exceeded the height of the footbridge, caused its destruction as it passed through. No injuries were reported in this accident, which occurred on Saturday, February 24. The accident caused a significant traffic jam on this stretch of road.

The remaining part of the footbridge after the accident has already been removed by the authorities. Police officers have been stationed on site to assist pedestrians in crossing the road on the M2. The speed limit on this road has been reduced to 60km/h.

Meanwhile, the driver involved in this accident has been brought before the Port-Louis District Court, where he faces a provisional charge of Damaging Government Property.
