The leader of the Labour Party in Parliament, Arvin Boolell, has called on Minister Bobby Hurreeram to apologize to the population for his comments following the collision between a truck and the Roche-Bois footbridge, which collapsed.

“In a situation of tension in a country with a fragile social fabric, a Minister of the Republic does not have the right to weaken the ecosystem of society. He made provocative statements, which were picked up by the MBC. Bobby Hurreeram must apologize to the population,” said Arvin Boolell, surrounded by Farhad Aumeer and Stéphanie Anquetil.

He also discussed several current topics, including political ones. In this regard, he expressed his “fear” that there could be a “hijacking of the government’s elections.” He also issued a warning against the use of artificial intelligence in the context of the election.

“This fear even exists in Great Britain,” he said. He cited the British Home Secretary, who recently expressed concern that “artificial intelligence can, through Big Fake, pose a threat to democratic elections.”

Arvin Boolell also expressed concerns about the re-registration of SIM cards with telecommunications operators. Pointing out that a case has been lodged in the Supreme Court on this matter, he said he is eagerly awaiting the judgment. Another topic discussed was the capture and commercialization of monkeys. In this regard, he addressed socio-cultural societies, “most of which are in the government’s pocket,” reminding them that their role “is to fight against communalism and work for national unity.” He criticized them for “launching attacks against MP Joanna Bérenger.”

Still on the subject of monkey breeding, Arvin Boolell questioned under what circumstances a 235-acre plot of land was granted to a Le-Val promoter. Before announcing that a potential government of the Ptr/MMM/PMSD alliance “will recommend the phasing out of breeding” and will initiate an investigation under the chairmanship of a judge concerning the commercialization of these primates. Furthermore, a levy will be imposed on exports, he said, even though scientific and pharmaceutical research in Mauritius will be encouraged.
