Under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Special Olympics Morocco will include various individual and team sports disciplines.

This year, the organizers have decided to emphasize physical and mental health by strengthening the presence of doctors from different specialties. In addition to the competitions, the “Healthy Athletes” event will be held at the Charifa Hospital in Marrakech, offering medical screenings in seven specialties (ophthalmology, nutrition, ENT, psychiatry, dentistry, general medicine, and physiotherapy).

Furthermore, volunteer doctors will have the opportunity to participate in a “Train the Trainer” (TTT) training from April 23 to 26, 2024, allowing them to join the Clinical Directors’ family.

The “Family Health Forum” will bring together the families of athletes to discuss their children’s journeys and the importance of sports in their education and development.

The program for this edition will also include the “Unified Champion Schools” event at Elaraki International School in Marrakech, aiming to promote school inclusion.

Founded in 1994 by the late Princess Lalla Amina, Special Olympics Morocco organizes National Games every two years, playing a crucial role in providing programs for athletes with intellectual disabilities and becoming a regional and global model.

Its goals focus on the physical, psychological, and social development of mentally disabled individuals through sports, their social integration, raising awareness in society about their rights, motivating families, volunteers, and students to participate in sports and socio-educational programs, as well as training coaches and educators to ensure quality support for athletes.

Through its actions, Special Olympics Morocco has become the first organization to support people with intellectual disabilities, improving their lives through sports and providing opportunities for development and fulfillment.
