Mopti, March 25 (AMAP) Two police officers were killed and another injured in a terrorist attack against the checkpoint of the city of Mopti on Monday, March 25, 2024, in the morning around 10 o’clock, learned the AMAP from a local source.

Our source specifies that the two assailants, on a Jakarta motorcycle, stopped at the level of the agents before opening fire on the occupants of the checkpoint, causing their death and injuring another.

The assailants then abandoned their motorcycle to try to flee with the motorcycles of the injured agents. With the rush of the population and the promptness of the rescue following their heinous act, the fugitives fled to blend in with the population of the neighborhood known as “Bas-fond”, our source declared. The rapid intervention of the Defense and Security Forces allowed the apprehension of around twenty suspects, and the injured person, whose life is not in danger, is receiving medical care.

Finally, our source specifies that investigations are ongoing to establish and identify those responsible for the terrorist act. Despite the relative calm, vigilance must remain in place.
