Bamako, May 25 (AMAP) The President of the Transition, Colonel Assimi Goïta, received the Special Representative of the Government of the People’s Republic of China on African Affairs, Liu Yuxi, at the Koulouba Palace last Friday.
At the end of the meeting, the Special Representative of the Chinese government on African Affairs promised that the Chinese side will continue to strengthen existing cooperation projects.
“We will also start new projects in the areas of energy, agriculture, medicine, and country security,” announced the Chinese emissary. He continued: “We are determined to support Mali in its fight to maintain country security and combat terrorism.”
The Beijing emissary recalled that Mali and China have a long-standing friendship. Liu Yuxi indicated that both parties have reiterated their commitment to strengthen cooperation on bilateral and international levels.
The host of the Transition President also mentioned that during his visit, he noted the immense efforts of the Malian authorities to maintain peace, security, the country’s sovereignty, as well as the development and well-being of the people.
A few months ago, a high-level Malian delegation, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, made a friendship and working visit to Beijing, China. During this visit, the two parties praised “the perfect convergence of views between the authorities of the two countries on many international and regional issues,” particularly those related to the fundamental principles of national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference in the internal affairs of states. They deplored the politicization and manipulation of human rights issues by some foreign powers.
The Chinese side reiterated its support for Bamako’s efforts to respect its sovereignty, strengthen the presence and authority of the State throughout the national territory.
It also agreed in principle to support structuring projects in the agricultural, mining, energy, infrastructure, new technologies, and the establishment of industrial units within a mutually beneficial “win-win partnership.”
The audience was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulaye Diop, and his colleague in charge of Industry and Commerce, Moussa Alassane Diallo.
