MultiChoice, in collaboration with Africa Magic, has announced the upcoming 10th edition of the prestigious Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), scheduled to take place from the 10th to the 11th of May 2024. The organizers have also named esteemed filmmaker, director, producer, and pioneer Academy Director of the MultiChoice Talent Factory, Femi Odugbemi, as the head judge for the awards.

During a press conference held in Nigeria, Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and Channels, West Africa, MultiChoice, described the 10th AMVCA as a celebration marking a decade of brilliance, innovation, and the sheer magic of African storytelling on screen.

Dr. Tejumola expressed, “The AMVCA has become the standard of excellence in the African film industry. This edition will not only celebrate excellence in filmmaking but also honor an award that has advanced careers and fostered talent development across the continent.”

She revealed that the jury and head judge will be tasked with reviewing a pool of quality entries received this year from films and talent across Africa. The award categories have been modified for this special edition, with Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress categories now being determined by the jury. Femi Odugbemi was announced as the Head Judge for the 10th AMVCA.

In partnership with sponsors including Amstel, Pepsi, Promasidor, and Martell, Africa is invited to partake in the celebration. The announcement of final nominees in each category will be broadcast live across all Africa Magic channels on March 24th at 8 pm, with the voting portal opening immediately after.

The two-day celebration of the 10th AMVCA will commence on May 10th with the Young Filmmakers and Content Creators event in the morning, followed by the Cultural Day and Opening Night celebration in the evening, and culminating in the Main Awards Ceremony on the night of May 11th, 2024.

Femi Odugbemi shared his thoughts on the task ahead for the award jury, emphasizing the dedication to excellence that the AMVCA represents. As the head judge, Odugbemi assured that only the most outstanding works will earn a spot on the nomination list, acknowledging the challenging task of evaluating submissions from talented individuals across Africa.

Additional sponsors of the 10th AMVCAs include TECNO, Verve, QuickTeller, Tiger Beer, MTN, and Indomie. The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, an annual accolade presented by MultiChoice, aims to recognize outstanding achievements in film and television production in Africa.
