Lake of Stars (LOS) is a renowned arts festival in Malawi that has recently made a grand announcement about its return. Led by Zilanie Gondwe, Head of PR, Media, and Relationships, and Sharmila Elias, Head of Projects and Productions, the LOS team presented the brand’s 20-year journey and its vision to a diverse audience of organizations and individuals.

The event, which took place recently, saw the participation and support of various entities such as Lilongwe Wildlife Trust, Elly B’s Restaurant, T-bone Restaurant, Peak Gardens Events, Nyanja Productions, Neil Nayar, Chris Badger, Q Malewezi, and Cynthia Czee. The purpose of the gathering was to engage potential partners and supporters for the upcoming Lake of Stars Malawi Arts Fest scheduled to take place from 6 to 8 September 2024. It promises three days filled with music, culture, art, and celebration, marking the festival’s 20th anniversary and commemorating 60 years of Malawi Independence.

In 2023, LOS had to make the difficult decision to postpone the festival until 2024 due to various factors, including challenging global and Malawi economic conditions. The team cited the impact of COVID restrictions and cancellations over the last few years as additional pressures that led to the postponement. Despite exploring all possible options, the team concluded that it was impossible to deliver the event to the high standards expected by the LOS audience.

Looking ahead, LOS is set to announce more exciting news, including the venue and location for the 2024 festival in the coming weeks. The team remains committed to providing a unique and memorable experience for attendees, with a focus on showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Malawi and supporting the local arts community.

With the support of partners and sponsors, LOS aims to create a platform for artists and performers to showcase their talents and connect with a wider audience. The festival serves as a space for creativity, collaboration, and celebration, bringing together people from different backgrounds to experience the best of Malawian arts and culture.

As preparations for the 2024 festival continue, the LOS team is excited to see the enthusiasm and support from the community. With a renewed sense of purpose and dedication, they are working towards making the upcoming Lake of Stars Malawi Arts Fest a truly unforgettable experience that celebrates the spirit of creativity and unity.
