The Gendarmes secured their spot in the final by beating the Military. GNVB and TGV will face off in the boys’ final. On the girls’ side, GNVB will meet Saint-Denis Olympique. The finals will be a showdown between Malagasy and Reunionese teams.

The two teams from the National Gendarmerie volleyball have earned their ticket to the final of the 28th CAVB Zone 7 club championship. Yesterday’s second men’s semi-final at the Mahamasina Sports Palace was a GNVB derby against the Armed Forces Sports Club. The four-time champion of Zone 7 confirmed its dominance by winning 3-0 (25/16 25/15 25/15) against the Military.

The Rampanana, Manohisoa, and Judi were superior and effective in reception, attack, and defense. “Our strategy was to manage substitutions in order to manage the players ahead of the final… It will be our revenge against TGV. We are playing at home, we will correct our mistakes,” confides Honoré Razafinjatovo, known as Noré Kely.

“I don’t recognize my players. I told them to show their true ability. They were tense and closed off… The next goal is third place, which is always honorable in Zone 7. They are motivated to achieve it,” emphasizes Lova Idriss Alaoy, coach of Cosfa. GNVB will face their nemesis, Tampon Gecko volleyball, in the final.

This Reunionese club eliminated them in a tie-break last year in the quarterfinals, after losing in the final in 2020 at home. The defending champion, TGV, defeated Saint-Denis Olympique 3-0 (25/07 25/21 25/23) in the semi-final yesterday.

Revenge”It’s a favorable result. We studied our opponent well. We rely on a quality game plan… We already beat the Gendarmes 3-2 here in 2020 and we will try to do it again,” says Maxime Guermeur, TGV coach.

In the women’s category, in their second participation, GNVB will play their first final of the zonal competition after losing in the match for third place last year. In a thrilling match, the Lalah, Eugénie, and Hobisoa defeated Anse Royale from Seychelles, twelve-time champion of the Indian Ocean, by 3-2.

The Madagascar champion team easily won the first set (25/16), before conceding the second, 12/25. GNVB regained control and secured the third set (25/19). After a highly contested set, the fourth went to the Seychellois team (25/22). The tie-break was one-sided, with GNVB winning 15/3.

“There was a relaxation in the fourth set. The Seychellois team served well… We will improve the details and avoid direct mistakes in the final. The girls are consistent and physically and mentally stable,” says Noré Kely.

“If we had won the third set, we could have done better. We didn’t manage the strong moments well,” regrets Olivier Sauer, coach of Anse Royale. The Reunion champion club Saint-Denis Olympique, on the other hand, defeated their runner-up, TGV, 3-0 (25/19 25/12 25/17).

“We know each other inside out. The first set was very close. We made a lot of mistakes. After that, we implemented our game plan, and it went well,” explains David François, coach of SDO, seven-time champion of the Indian Ocean.

The women’s final between GNVB-SDO is scheduled for this afternoon at 2 p.m., and the final showdown between GNVB-TGV boys at 4:30 p.m. The matches for third place will take place this morning, TGV-Anse Royale for the women and Cosfa-SDO for the men.
