In collaboration with Canal+ and Fireflies, Ony Andriananantany and Koloina Andriamanantsoa have initiated the first edition of the Viavy Film Festival, which will be held in grandeur on the 15th and 16th of March at Canal Olympia Andohatapenaka. “Due to an avalanche of requests and messages we have received, we have decided to extend the registration period by one week. You now have until Friday, March 8th to submit your works on our website. The criteria remain unchanged. That is, any film written, produced, or directed by a woman, with a duration between one and 45 minutes, will have the chance to compete for the prestigious trophies of the Golden Braid, the Silver Braid, and the Somala Jury Prize, chaired by the renowned filmmaker Felana Rajaonarivony,” emphasizes Koloina Andriamanantsia, the organizer.

Furthermore, the two days of the festival will be enriched by a series of workshops and training sessions led by eminent professionals such as Andry Rakotoarivony for lighting, Andry Ranoarivony for sound, Tovo Rasoanaivo for direction, Feno Mahery for cinematographic language, Anton Khan for production, and Yves Hanchar for writing and direction, thus providing invaluable added value to the participants. “The festival is a free opportunity, where workshops, conferences, and meetings will follow one another. It will also be a platform for the distribution of selected and unpublished films dealing with sensitive subjects concerning women in general,” explains Onjatiana Razafindrakoto, the festival’s godmother and general manager of Canal+ Madagascar.
