Members of the highway bandit gang captured alive.

A store robbery went wrong. Captured by the crowd, three of the criminals were lynched while three of their accomplices fell in a shootout.

A highway bandit gang got what it deserved in Mamoerimanjaka, Arivonimamo. Three of the criminals were lynched by the community while their three accomplices were shot dead by the Gendarmerie Forces. Another member of this gang of criminals was captured alive. She was a young woman who operated alongside the individuals killed during the clashes.

These scenes of violence erupted on Wednesday afternoon, after the criminals attacked a store in Mamoerimanjaka. According to reports to the Gendarmerie Forces, the bandits made off with a sum estimated at just over seven million ariary. During the robbery, the thieves deliberately took the merchant who had fallen into their trap. Once in possession of their loot, they immediately fled. As the bandits were quickly leaving the village, the locals gathered to chase them alongside the Gendarmerie Forces.

Resistance

The bandits fled on foot brandishing their weapons. Thirty minutes after the attack, three members of the gang were apprehended by an enraged crowd. Beaten to death, they were then left for dead and the pursuit continued. Tracking down the other fleeing bandits, the Gendarmerie managed to catch up with them. As they clashed head-on with the pursuers, the bandits put up resistance, leading the Gendarmes to open fire. In the meantime, the three other members of the gang of criminals lost their lives. Unable to go any further, the woman working with the individuals killed chose to surrender, allowing her to escape the anger of the locals. The bodies of the six individuals killed in the clash were buried yesterday.
