The “Firaisankina” platform presents its first candidates for the upcoming legislative elections. Marc Ravalomanana’s TIM represents it in the six districts of the capital as well as in other strategic districts.
End of speculations. The “Tiako I Madagasikara” party presented its first eighteen candidates for the legislative elections in May yesterday in Faravohitra. This presentation is only the first wave for the “Firaisankina” platform, as announced by Marc Ravalomanana, president of TIM and co-president of the platform. There will be two more waves of presentations. “Firaisankina” plans to present candidates for all one hundred and twenty districts of the island.
During yesterday’s presentation, the candidates from the party of the former president cover the six districts composing the capital. The majority of the current TIM deputies in Antananarivo are reappointed, with the exception of Emilien Ramboasalama from the fourth arrondissement, replaced by Rina Randriamasinoro, the party’s secretary-general. The TIM deputies from Avaradrano and Atsimondrano were also replaced in the first presentation.
This strong representation of TIM in the capital’s districts is, on the one hand, a sign of the party’s dominance within the “Firaisankina” platform, which is composed of four other political parties. On the other hand, it remains the most logical strategy, given that the other members of the platform do not have elected officials in the capital and also due to Marc Ravalomanana’s high political capital among the people of Antananarivo.
In advance, in addition to the capital’s candidates, “Tiako I Madagasikara” also presents candidates in Ambatondrazaka, in the districts composing the Vakinankaratra region, Fianarantsoa 1, as well as in the districts on the outskirts of the capital. These candidates have been carefully chosen from many contenders, explains the TIM leader. They have received a candidate certificate from the platform. The co-president of “Firaisankina” explains that several districts are the subject of discussions within the platform. But in the end, it was agreed that the final decision would be made by the two co-presidents.
Marc Ravalomanana also called on the party’s base to comply with the decisions of the platform, as the seats must be shared with other parties. “To all the base, I ask you to comply with the decisions made. We will not lead you astray as each decision is carefully considered,” exclaims Marc Ravalomanana.
Regarding the budget of each candidate, the “Firaisankina” platform agrees that it is up to the candidates to pay the mandatory deposit to show their willingness. On the other hand, the candidates’ original parties will also contribute, and the platform will not remain inactive. In the end, the “Firaisankina” platform leads all other political headquarters with this presentation of the first wave of candidates. On its part, the Orange coalition keeps the mystery about the strategy it will adopt and the candidates who will represent it. The same goes for the collective of the Malagasy, which has been silent for some time.
