Yesterday, the first screening of the film “Le Carnet”, carried out by the Imaso Ivoho Association as part of the Fitaratra project, took place at Kudeta Anosy. This 41-minute film stands out as an important work aimed at raising awareness among young people about the scourges of school harassment and addictive behaviors, especially among adolescents, as well as parents and school officials.
Delving into the moral torments of young high school students, “Le Carnet” not only depicts the violence suffered at school, but also explores the ramifications of these behaviors within households. The young actors, brilliantly portraying the characters, guide us through a poignant and sometimes heartbreaking reality.
“Le Carnet addresses somewhat delicate issues for Malagasy culture and education, but it is an unavoidable reality. In August, we began interviews with young people who are victims of harassment as well as psychologists regarding the beneficial effects of drugs. Additionally, as parents, we have felt and experienced the difficulties of educating young people,” emphasizes Anjara Rasoanaivo, the film’s director.
Engaged Film
From the first scene to the end of the film, the five main actors, evolving in familiar settings such as the Lycée moderne Ampefiloha and Kudeta Anosy, manage to maintain the audience’s attention and interest. “Le Carnet” is not just a testimony on harassment and addictions, but also a reflection on parental education. Indeed, Malagasy parents are questioned about their crucial role in their children’s lives, often neglected in favor of an obsession with academic success.
The Imaso Ivoho Association, founded in 2021, aims to widely distribute this film in schools throughout Madagascar, in partnership with local institutions. “Le Carnet” is not just a film, but a breath of fresh air in the Malagasy educational landscape.
