Madagascar: RESURRECTION OF CHRIST – Easter celebrated with fervor

There were festive atmospheres everywhere. Moreover, the weather was beautiful yesterday. Considered a quiet celebration, Easter was an occasion for many to relax and have fun.

Despite inflation and the increase in bus ticket prices in suburban areas, people still celebrated Easter and Easter Monday in the places of their choice. This year, there was no shortage of opportunities to celebrate and relax. The weekend was long as the holidays started on Friday, March 29. As a result, the Andriatahiana family preferred to leave the city to get some fresh air. They went to Mahitsy on Friday and returned to Tana yesterday.

But above all, Easter is a religious holiday. Therefore, since Sunday, Christians have celebrated it by going to church to celebrate Jesus Christ who triumphed over death. And the festivities continued on Easter Monday. All the excursion sites in Antananarivo were crowded.

All the sites were packed yesterday. Ambohijatovo, Anosy, Analakely, Ambatofotsy, and Tsimbazaza were the choice of many people to get away. Fabien Rakotondravelo, a young high school student, chose Analakely as his excursion spot. “I chose to walk around Analakely because it’s the closest place to my home. In fact, I live in Ambohimanarina. And I’m here specifically to relax and have fun like everyone else.”

The Ambohijatovo garden welcomed more than three thousand people yesterday, according to the garden’s officials. However, issues arose, such as cases of lost children, according to the municipal police present at the site.

Still in the festive and joyful Easter mood, others preferred outdoor festivities. This was the case for those who were present on the streets of By Pass, on the Ankadimbahoaka-Iavoloha axis. A huge crowd flooded the road, causing traffic jams.

Various entertainment, games, and attractions for children were seen on the roadside. “We wanted to take the children to have fun and enjoy the rides,” says Rivo Rakotomalala, a father who came with his children to celebrate Easter Monday on the By Pass road.

Other families, like Anita R.’s, left their homes at five in the morning to stroll along the By Pass road. The mother prepared a special meal for this occasion. In addition to excursions, entertainment enthusiasts sought ambiance in concerts organized as part of the Easter celebration. Tahiry R., a big fan of tropical music, went to the Bevalala stadium yesterday. The people of Antananarivo indeed celebrated Easter joyfully.
