Public-private dialogue will continue regularly.

Exchanges between the State and the private sector will continue to maintain dialogue. Meetings are scheduled periodically for this purpose.

In continuity. Following the first meeting between the President of the Republic, Andry Rajoelina, and the main private sector groups on Friday, periodic meetings are planned to maintain relations between the State and the private sector.

Francis Rabarijohn, President of the Groupement des entreprises de Madagascar (GEM), indicates that there will be exchanges to ensure mutual interests in order to develop the industrial fabric and, at the same time, the private sector. “We agreed with the President of the Republic that our exchanges will not stop at this meeting today [Friday]. There will be exchanges every two months,” said the head of the GEM during an interview.

History

Exchanges with the private sector will also be fueled by a special structure that will ensure meetings at least once a month. According to the official statement from the GEM, a common “Task force” will be set up shortly. “In a spirit of collaboration and mutual commitment to the social and economic development of Madagascar,” reads the GEM’s letter.

The letter continues, stating that “The President of the Republic has agreed that this collaborative approach be maintained through regular exchanges, in the form of monthly meetings between a common Task Force emanating from the presidency on one side and the private sector on the other.” These periodic exchanges are indeed one of the many implementations of the State’s General Policy, which is to maintain public-private dialogue. Moreover, recent dialogues between the government and the private sector entities have been held in this direction. A meeting was held in Ivandry on April 4th to strengthen the ties between the State and the private sector on the one hand, but also to materialize this collaboration through the creation of a national steering committee for public-private partnership on the other hand.
