Jean Aimé Botosera Andrianarison, president of Conim, during a conference in Befelatà nana, yesterday. |
Following investigations conducted by Conim since December, forty-five fake nurses have been exposed. This is detrimental to public health.
Fake nurses are present in 80% of the twenty-three regions of the country, notably in the Analamanga region, Ambositra, Sofia, etc.,” said Jean Aimé Botosera Andrianarison, president of the National Order of Nurses of Madagascar, Conim, yesterday. Forty-five fake nurses have been exposed by Conim. Investigations and procedures have been carried out by the Order of Nurses to unmask these supposed healthcare professionals. This type of imposture is detrimental to public health, continued the president of Conim. Out of the forty-five thousand nurses in Madagascar, only eighteen thousand of them are registered in the Order of Nurses. Therefore, those not registered in the Order are considered clandestine, according to Jean Aimé Botosera Andrianarison.
According to investigations conducted by the Order of Nurses since December 2023, these fake nurses are actually close relatives of healthcare personnel. They are accustomed to practicing the profession and subsequently applying it. What is sad about this matter is that major hospitals in the capital employ fake nurses. “We have a list of these hospitals, we intend to expose them publicly,” continued the president of Conim. The sale of fake nurse diplomas cannot be ruled out in such cases.
Curriculum
The measures taken against these fake nurses are, first of all, verbal procedures. But if these individuals persist in practicing the profession, legal procedures will be initiated as it harms public health and goes against the health code and ethics.
Before becoming a nurse, one must have a bachelor’s degree. Then, follow a three-year university paramedicine curriculum. In principle, during the training, students have theoretical classes in a room and practical internships in a hospital or health center. After obtaining the diploma, they should be registered in the Nurses’ Order. Finally, they can freely practice their profession.
The president of Conim, Jean Aimé Botosera Andrianarison, encourages the population not to consult unreliable healthcare personnel.
