Marc Ravalomanana and associates form a new alliance for the upcoming elections. Yesterday, five former presidential candidates formed the “Firaisankina” platform.
With this news, the opposition is inevitably divided. It is a fact. With the creation of the new political coalition platform of five opposition parties yesterday, the division of the opposition is now beyond doubt.

Yesterday in Faravohitra, Marc Ravalomanana of TIM, Rivo Rakotovao of HVM, Auguste Paraina of “Tsara Tahafina”, Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko, and Alban Rakotoarisoa of APM jointly held a press conference to inform about the formation of the “Firaisankina” platform.

This new platform comes a few days after the announcement of the formation, by the five other opposition leaders during the last presidential election, of the collective of Malagasy.

The two platforms intend to participate in the upcoming elections and declare their willingness to present a consensus candidate for each locality and each district for the municipal and legislative elections. Despite the division, the opposition is ahead of the Oranges in the coalition. So far, the pro-Rajoelina have not yet decided on the modalities of the coalition.

However, Hery Rasoamaromaka, the national secretary of TGV, announced earlier this week that TGV cannot win alone, whether it is the majority in the National Assembly or the leadership of the communes, and a coalition will soon be put in place.

Leadership War

The now former collective of candidates continued to declare their solidarity earlier this year despite the defeat in the last presidential election. Solidarity that is falling apart with the two distinct platforms that both want to participate in the local elections.

One of the reasons raised for this division is the leadership war between the different opposition candidates after the presidential election. Despite the formation of the collective of candidates at the time, each of the candidates has always had political lines specific to their party.

This even led Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko to leave the group to run for the highest office against Andry Rajoelina, while his peers decided not to participate in the November 16 election.

The current situation is becoming increasingly suffocating as the legislative elections approach, and the political leaderships are currently in full organization for the electoral process. At first glance, the opposition, divided into two, and the ruling party which is slow to define the guidelines of its coalition for the upcoming elections, keep the public in suspense.

On the other hand, candidate aspirants, especially for the position of deputy, are already beginning to attract the attention of the public and political leaderships.
