The establishment of industrial units at the district and commune level is progressing rapidly

The ODOF program is reaching another milestone, that of ensuring the sustainability of the use of industrial units transferred to districts and communes. A call has been made to ensure private management of the units, in a win-win partnership with the Ministry of Industrialization and Trade.

As part of the program, the Ministry of Industrialization and Trade will soon unveil a call for expressions of interest at the regional level, aiming to identify and collaborate with local entities, operators, cooperatives, and associations of producers and farmers, responsible for managing the industrial units.

This strategic decision, emanating from the Cabinet meeting the day before yesterday, highlights the government’s commitment to involve local economic actors more in the industrial development process.

The selected entities will play a crucial role in ensuring the insurance, maintenance, and servicing of the machinery, as well as the commissioning of the units. The associated costs, installation, and necessary infrastructure will be covered by the operators, while the Ministry commits to providing support and strategic guidance to ensure their smooth operation.

Beyond the seventy-five processing units already established in districts and communes, the ODOF program is preparing to deploy another hundred industrial units, benefiting from the support of the Indian government.

The program now extends to communes, thus strengthening the foundations of industry at the local level. This partnership between the state and local economic actors highlights the importance of collaboration in stimulating the country’s economic development.
