A delegation led by the governor visited the site to see the work.

The ordeal is finally over for the inhabitants of Nosy Be. A new path is being finalized in the western part of the island of scents.

It is an inter-district road that has been awaited for many years, with the aim of facilitating access for the different neighborhoods to the market, hospital, and schools located in this densely populated area of the urban commune of Nosy Be. Like in Ambanja, Ambilobe, and Antsiranana, the city of Nosy Be has also benefited from a new concrete road. This road is 720 meters long and connects the Vazaha-Sakira-Ceg Andavakotoko School. It has been causing suffering to local residents for years, especially during the rainy season. Currently, 98% of the rehabilitation work on this road is completed. It has already delighted the villagers.

The initiative comes from the governorate of the Diana region, in collaboration with the urban commune of Nosy Be, due to the use of the 2 billion subsidy from the central government to build infrastructure. This road provides for the distinct circulation of pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists on the east-west side of Hell-ville. The entire structure takes into account the existence of a wetland. Among other things, it facilitates traffic flow in this area and avoids vehicles passing through the narrow streets of the city center.

Furthermore, it is also estimated that the completion of this renovated road will solve the traffic management problem in the city of Nosy Be, as cars coming from the north side, as well as those coming from Dzamandzar, Ambatoloaka, Dar-es-Salam, will be able to use this road directly, instead of going through the Castle Water road, which is the only main axis of Nosy Be and no longer corresponds to the increasing number of vehicles in the city. In addition, this road will facilitate the passage of ambulances or those accompanying patients to the hospital. They no longer need to take a long way to the cemetery.

Contributing to Progress

Now, the students of the neighborhood, especially those of the famous “Vazaha School” and CEG Andavakotoko, will no longer face difficulties, as before, they used to sink in mud when they went to school. Similarly, teachers had to take off their shoes on the way. Local populations have appreciated this new contribution to the development of their territory. They have thanked the government and Governor Taciano Rakotomanga, who visited the site with his close collaborators and company officials to see firsthand the completion and expected quality. The governor promised them that this road will be inaugurated soon, taking into account their request for the installation of public lighting along this road.

“The completed infrastructure is a testament to the government’s work. We continue to strengthen the ideals set by President Andry Rajoelina, that no district or municipality is forgotten. All districts have received their share, but this time it is Nosy Be’s turn,” said Governor Taciano Rakotomanga.
