Three individuals with suspicious behavior were intercepted by gendarmes during a patrol in Sabotsy-Namehana. One of them, armed with a pistol, was fatally shot.
An armed man was eliminated, another was captured alive, and a third is on the run. These are believed to be criminals who encountered the gendarme patrol unit in Sabotsy-Namehana yesterday morning around 2 o’clock.
According to reports, the brigade commander was alerted to the suspicious presence of these individuals in a car. They were noticed by residents of Ambohinaorina in their neighborhood due to their threatening behavior.
Without wasting any time, the gendarmes rushed to the indicated location to verify the accuracy of the report. Upon their arrival, they indeed spotted a vehicle, a Mazda minibus. They found only the driver, the only person on board. When questioned about the origin of three wheels and a battery he had in his car, the driver fumbled in his explanations. In the end, he could not answer any of the gendarmes’ questions.
Shortly after, the three men emerged from somewhere and approached the minibus. The driver explained to the gendarmes that they were with him.
Fifty thousand ariary
The gendarmes wanted to verify them. But immediately, one of them drew a pistol, the second threw a wheel spanner at them, and the other threw a jack. Ready to confront these real threats, the patrol team immediately opened fire. The result, the armed man was literally rendered unable to harm. One of his accomplices was captured alive. The driver eventually realized that the trio were bandits. He recounted that they only hired him to transport their loot. They paid him fifty thousand ariary. The gendarmes took him along with the captive to find out the truth during an investigation. The deceased’s firearm was confiscated. His body was taken to the morgue.
The Tana-ville gendarmerie company to which the Sabotsy-Namehana brigade is attached reported that the victim of the criminals has not yet been identified.
