Rina Randriamasinoro, the TIM candidate of “Fiaraisankina” for the fourth district.
The “Firaisankina” platform designates Rina Randriamasinoro as the sole candidate for the Tana IV district. The TIM party is already starting to make its moves for the upcoming legislative elections.
A few days after its formation and the announcement of its participation in the upcoming elections, the “Firaisankina” platform is starting to make its moves in preparation for the legislative elections on May 29. During a meeting at the end of the week, the platform jointly designated Rina Randriamasinoro, the Secretary General of “Tiako i Madagasikara” (TIM), as the sole candidate in the Tana IV district. He will be the candidate for his party, as well as for the HVM, “Tsara Tahafina,” APM, and the pro-Siteny group. “It is true that Rina Randriamasinoro is a TIM supporter, but the four other parties will support him because the platform will present a single candidate for each district,” explains the TIM leader.
Being one of the key figures of the TIM party, it is logical that the decision to designate Rina Randriamasinoro was made under the influence of Marc Ravalomanana. The latter, along with Siteny Randrianasoloniaiko, leads the platform. This decision means sidelining the incumbent TIM MP in the fourth district, Émilien Ramboasalama. He could become an independent candidate if he still decides to run for office.
A thoughtful decision
The choice of Rina Randriamasinoro proves to be a well-thought-out decision by the “Firaisankina” platform, as the Tana IV district is already announced as a future battleground during the election. While nothing has been decided yet on the Orange camp regarding its candidate in the fourth district, speculation is growing among the public. For example, he could face the incumbent IRD MP Paulbert Rahasimanana if he decides to run for a third term in Tsimbazaza.
On the other hand, the question of the eligibility of Rina Randriamasinoro’s candidacy arises. The TIM Secretary General currently has a two-year suspended sentence since December 12th. As a reminder, he is charged with armed gathering without authorization, public protest without authorization, and contempt and violence against law enforcement. It is worth noting that, at the moment, details on the eligibility conditions for candidacies are still pending.
