The sixth edition of the Pôle stage Madagascar opened its doors yesterday. More than two hundred students will benefit from this pre-internship program.

This is a lifesaving initiative for students who sometimes struggle to find an internship or a job. In the premises of the Syndicat des Industries de Madagascar in Analakely, more than two hundred young people have embarked on an adventure, starting with training in the world of employment and entrepreneurship.

This initiative is jointly carried out by the Ministry of Industrialization and Commerce, the Public Service, and the private sector, through the Sim. Coming from ten universities, grandes écoles, or other higher education institutions in Madagascar, these academics will undergo a five-day training before starting an internship in Sim companies. This initiative aims to facilitate the intermediation between supply and demand for the benefit of young people eager to gain more professional experience. “The objective is to allow young people seeking internships to benefit from essential internships and training before entering the workforce,” says Njiva Rakotoarivonona, General Manager of Industrialization at the MIC during the opening of this event.

It is also a useful response to the concerns of young people regarding access to employment in Madagascar. Referring to certain statistics, access to the job market seems paradoxical in sub-Saharan Africa. Despite more than five hundred thousand people entering the labor market every year, 70.6% of job offers do not find applicants. This is the result of a study by Dr. Herinjatovo Ramiarison, an economist researcher who analyzed this phenomenon in his research.

Future collaboration

How many young people wishing to enter the workforce have been caught off guard by the requirements in terms of professional experience? This question concerns young graduates, who are nevertheless confident in the Pôle stage Madagascar. A student from the École supérieure en sciences agronomiques testifies: “These internship offers after the five days of training are a significant advantage for us. It allows us to get initiated to the world of work and at the same time familiarize ourselves with business practices.” A hundred young people from institutions such as the École Supérieure Polytechnique, the Inscae, the Iscam, and the INFP are enriching this sixth wave of young student-interns.

This pre-internship session aligns perfectly with the development of human capital, one of the main axes of the State’s General Policy. For the Ministry of the Public Service, the Pôle stage remains open to any form of partnership for future collaboration. It is also envisaged to extend this program to various regions of the island, explains Ange Simonia Ingy, Director of Employment Promotion at the Ministry of the Public Service.
