| The Minister of Public Security launched the “Sarika” operation during his visit to Ampasika yesterday. |
A police force closer to the population, a frank collaboration between the police and the population, better information sharing. These are the keywords of the “Sarika” operation launched yesterday.
Operation Sarika. This is the name of the new maneuver deployed by the National Police across the territory. A new operation whose kickoff was given yesterday.
The aim of Operation Sarika is to mobilize citizens to engage in the fight against insecurity. An commitment that focuses on “a frank collaboration between the police and the population.” This cooperation involves the sharing of information and intelligence, leading to a prompt response from the National Police if they are proven. Citizens are also encouraged to contact the Law enforcement as soon as possible in case of danger, with specific location indications.
In return, the police undertake to increase their presence in the field. A deterrent presence that is accompanied by a greater reactivity in their interventions. This is, in short, a strengthening of the device already in place for a few months. However, Operation Sarika aims to involve citizens more in the fight against insecurity. The implementation of the new police strategy was launched yesterday.
An overview
The General Inspector of Police Herilala Rakotoarimanana, Minister of Public Security, sounded the alarm. A kick-off he gave during a field visit with the senior officials of his department yesterday morning. The government official toured the sensitive neighborhoods in Antananarivo, namely Ampasika, Isotry, and their surroundings. He exchanged with the leaders of the Fokontany and the residents, explaining to them the ins and outs of Operation Sarika.
In the wake of the field visit by General Inspector of Police Rakotoarimanana, the various departments of the Ministry of Public Security across the country followed suit. The goal is to encourage the population to join the common goal of winning the fight against insecurity. The materialization of Operation Sarika is immediate. According to the explanations of General Inspector of Police Danny Marius Rakotozanany, Director General of the National Police, citizens will have a glimpse of it during this Holy Week and the Easter weekend.
“The police elements will be present everywhere. They will be present in places where mass meetings will be held, during the worship services of Holy Week and Easter Monday. We will also ensure that the laws are respected, especially those governing the closure of bars and those on nocturnal outings as well as drunk driving. We will also be uncompromising against the violation of the legal age for nocturnal outings, in order to prevent abuse of minors. We will apply the law, enforce it, and punish the offenders,” warns General Inspector of Police Rakotozanany.
