The exhibition “Tsy manan-kialofana” by Ashiko Ratovo is currently on display at the IFM.

The exhibition “Tsy manan-kialofana” or “Homeless” by Ashiko Ratovo is currently on display at IFM Analakely until April 27. It features ten unique paintings.

Art enthusiasts are invited to a deep and revealing experience with Ashiko Ratovo’s current exhibition, entitled “Tsy manan-kialofana” or “Homeless,” at IFM Analakely until April 27. This exhibition, the result of a three-month artistic residency in France, following her victory at the 7th edition of the Paritana Prize in April, unveils nine new paintings that enrich her already fascinating work. During her stay in France, Ashiko Ratovo presented four paintings and a textile piece at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris last December. Inspired by this experience, she created nine more paintings to add to her exhibition at IFM.

“In France, I exhibited four paintings and a textile piece based on Tsy manan-kialofana. I added nine more paintings to this exhibition at IFM, but the textile piece will not be exhibited, as I do not feel it corresponds to the theme I want to convey,” shares Ashiko Ratovo. The exhibition thoughtfully explores different forms of “home,” offering a personal vision of this concept through a series of poignant works. “Each painting presents a shelter, whether physical, moral, or spiritual. I present my vision of the quest for refuge throughout life,” emphasizes Ashiko Ratovo.

Explanation

During her artistic residency, Ashiko Ratovo explores various mediums, including the combined use of watercolor and acrylic, to create abstract and organic landscapes. Aware of the need to guide visitors through her exhibition, Ratovo plans to add explanations in the form of “labels.”

“By using watercolor, visitors spent more time contemplating the details of the work, prompting them to ask questions to the artist. That’s why I chose watercolor. However, I will not be able to be present every day to provide explanations, so I will add labels for the explanation. The date for this will be communicated later,” she adds. Through her creations, Ashiko Ratovo invites the public to dive into her intimate universe, to travel through her origins, and to share her reflections and aspirations. It is an artistic experience not to be missed, where emotions and thoughts blend to create an unforgettable experience.
