Inversion of situation.
During the total overhaul of the electoral list, the province of Antananarivo was among those with the least registered voters. This time, it is the province with the most registrations for the Annual Electoral List Revision (RALE), with 139,926 voters after the temporary halt on February 15th.
At the national level, the National Independent Electoral Commission (Ceni) is satisfied with the provisional results of the RALE, which, according to Dama Andrianarisedo, its president, yesterday in Alarobia during a press conference, is the most prolific RALE in five years. 3.92%, that’s the increase in the number of registered voters, which amounts to 432,578 new voters. “Efforts have been made to achieve this goal. I refute allegations that Ceni is not working, since this RALE is the most prolific in the past five years,” he explained. At the regional level, the Analamanga region also leads with 91,216 new voters. And Avaradrano is the district with the most registrations.

More than expected
At the beginning of the Annual Electoral List Revision last year, Ceni predicted an increase of about 2.50%.
At the moment, with 3.92%, the result exceeds the preparations of the election body. However, this percentage is subject to change, as on one hand, registration will reopen once the list returns to the “Fokontany” level. And on the other hand, Dama Andrianarisedo, in his report, announces 87,620 suspicions of duplicates which will soon be examined to have a more comprehensive list. According to the president of Ceni, the list will indeed evolve, but it is more likely to increase, as not all suspicions of duplicates will necessarily be confirmed. Additionally, voters will have more time to register before the final conclusion of the RALE on May 15th. As soon as the list arrives at the “Fokontany,” voters will have twenty days to verify the accuracy of the information or register for those who have not yet done so. Dama Andrianarisedo explains that the start of these twenty days varies depending on the arrival of the list at each “Fokontany.” Yesterday, some “Fokontany” in the capital have already received the list and will be able to reopen it from today.
