Change of course. If during last year’s presidential election, the ecumenical council of Christian churches in Madagascar (FFKM) led the mediation platform with the president of the National Assembly, this time, it changes its position. Last Sunday, during an ecumenical worship service praying for blessings on the nation at FLM 67 hectares, Pastor Denis Rakotozafy, president of FFKM, urged the population to vote on May 29 for the legislative elections. He explained that the upcoming electoral deadlines are closer to the population. “We invite you to go to the polls for the legislative elections and to exercise your right,” Denis Rakotozafy explained.

At the same time, the president of the Malagasy Lutheran Church issues another call to citizens to check the electoral list with the “fokontany,” especially for new adults. He also calls on the population to monitor the votes after the election to prevent conflicts.

**Change of course**
The Sunday service is part of the commemoration of the 1947 uprising. Several government members were present, including the three ministers responsible for defense and security. This change in direction of the FFKM coincides with Pastor Denis Rakotozafy taking over. During Pastor Ammi Irako Andriamahazosoa’s term last year, the ecumenical council advocated for Malagasy-Malagasy dialogue to resolve Malagasy problems. This is what led to the formation of the PAN/FFKM mediation platform.

This time, the situation seems to be changing despite Christine Razanamahasoa’s announcement of continuing the mediation. Last Saturday at the National Assembly, the FFKM was represented despite the absence of the four leaders.
