The second is a doctor in Ambovombe Androy, facing suspicion of organ trafficking. He has been released on bail. Then last week, two doctors from the Joseph Ravoahangy Andrianavalona University Hospital (CHU JRA) were targeted by complaints following the death of a child in that hospital. The last case involves a doctor summoned to the Criminal Brigade following an autopsy,” said Dr. Eric Andrianasolo, president of the National Order of Doctors, yesterday.
This situation is inconceivable for healthcare professionals. “We acknowledge that there may be healthcare professionals who lack vigilance, as in any other work sector. But the vast majority of us are fully committed, respect the oath we took, and apply all our expertise to save lives. However, we are not masters of our patients’ lives. Some will recover, others will have sequelae, and there will be deaths,” they said in a joint statement, signed by the presidents of the Orders of Doctors, Pharmacists, Dentists, Midwives, Psychologists, and the unions of government doctors, nurses, and midwives. They invite those who are not satisfied with the care to consult the Orders of each healthcare profession, which ensure compliance with medical ethics.
