Faniry Rasoamaromaka-Heer François crew finishes second in the junior category and third overall at the 27th Rallye Terre des Causses this weekend.

Ideal start. Faniry Rasoamaromaka, accompanied by a new co-pilot Heer François this season, behind the wheel of a Renault Clio Rally 5, climbs onto the podium in the first round of the Clio Trophy, the 27th Rallye Terre des Causses. This first round of the season’s five rounds took place on Saturday and Sunday in Capdenac-Gare, in Aveyron. Faniry finishes in second place in the junior category and third overall.

The crew of Tom Pellerey-Hervé Faucher takes the top spot by completing the ten special stages, six on Saturday and four on Sunday, with a total length of 165 km in 1h48’08’’9. The duo of Benjamin Boulenc-Chloé Barozzi-Gauze is in second place overall and first in the seniors category (+10’’2). And Malagasy driver, Faniry Rasoamaromaka, co-piloted by Heer François, finishes second in the juniors category and third overall (+42’’8). Faniry has shown a significant improvement at the start of the season as he was third in the juniors and fifth overall last year in the previous Rallye des Causses. “We started well in the first loop on Saturday. I had a small gear shift issue in the afternoon, the second loop on Saturday. We were able to fix it in time and push on Sunday to finish on the podium,” Faniry rejoices.

Double tire puncture

His twin, Mika, with Bastien Pouget, could only manage the tenth place in the juniors and 18th overall in this first round out of the twenty-seven classified at the end of the rally (+7’12’’0). Last year, Mika shone by finishing in second place in the final standings of the Clio Trophy 2023.

The national champion in 2022, Mika, once again took the third place overall and second in juniors at the end of the first stage of six specials on Saturday. He suffered two tire punctures and lost about five minutes during the first in the ES8, then approximately five minutes during the second, following a minor collision. He had to drive to finish the special. These two Malagasy drivers have learned a lot of lessons after the first season of discovery in 2023.

“We have improved our external work and our driving. We have worked on new driving techniques, note-taking, reviewing the camera before the rally, reconnaissance, and race management. We must know how to make the right decision with a wider perspective,” says Faniry. The second and next round, the Rallye Terre de Castine, will take place from 3rd to 5th May.
