The TGV-IRD political bureau declared its intention to take necessary measures in response to the situation at Arena Ivandry yesterday.

Christine Razanamahasoa has sparked outrage from the presidential camp following her declaration last Saturday. Two press conferences and a briefing were held yesterday by the Orange party to respond to the accusations made by the President of the National Assembly.

In reaction to Christine Razanamahasoa’s statement, President of the National Assembly, last Saturday, the reactions of her “former” companions in the ruling party were swift. Most of them criticized the speech of the lady in the chair, seeing it as insubordination and an affront to the party’s discipline that brought her to power. Therefore, the impeachment of the MP from Ambatofinandrahana could be requested under article 72 of the Constitution. This provision states in its paragraph 4 that “the impeachment of a deputy can also be pronounced by the High Constitutional Court if he deviates from the conduct of his parliamentary group.”

Hery Rasoamaromaka, governor of Analamanga and national secretary of the “Tanora malagasy vonona” party (TGV), for the province of Antananarivo, invokes this article of the Constitution to justify an impeachment call for Christine Razanamahasoa. “If it were up to me, what happened could be a reason for impeachment under Article 72,” he said yesterday in his office in Ambohidahy during the first press conference of Orange party members.

Shortly after, several deputies from the “Union of Pro-Andry Rajoelina” platform (UPAR) and supporters of the President organized a second press conference at the Motel, Anosy. For them, the fact that the President of the Lower House disregarded the directives of her group is “an act of destabilization and betrayal.”

These parliamentarians are calling on the political bureau of the coalition “Isika rehetra miaraka amin’i Andry Rajoelina” (IRD) to take the necessary measures “to preserve stability before, during, and after the elections.” Indeed, MP Razanamahasoa was elected under the IRD banner.

MP Norbert Mamangy, reading the declaration at the Motel, Anosy, announced that this was not the first time that the elected representative of Ambatofinandrahana had acted in this way. Thus, action should be taken accordingly. The actions of the President of the Lower House should lead to the application of Article 37 of the institution’s internal regulations. A provision related to the impeachment regime of a deputy.

A few hours later, the national bureau of TGV-IRD held a press conference at the Arena Ivandry to make a statement. According to the text read by the Orange figures, Christine Razanamahasoa’s actions on Saturday were “a kind of attempted coup.” Therefore, the party will not stand idly by and will take appropriate measures in the situation.

Many deputies from the ruling coalition were present at the Arena. They were accompanied by some members of the TGV political bureau, including Augustin Andriamananoro, Minister of Communication and Culture. The Minister of National Education, Marie Michelle Sahondrarimalala, was also seen at the scene, although she did not participate in the declaration. In the end, there were three media appearances by holders of power in one day.

The Orange party has risen to denounce the lady in the chair. Although the declaration of the TGV-IRD national bureau does not directly call for impeachment, some voices, including the governor of Analamanga, have referred to it directly. Nevertheless, it is difficult to believe that the statement of the concerned party is trivial. At first glance, it coincides with her return from a trip to France where she attended the summit of assembly presidents. On the other hand, the fact that most of the entities present were from the opposition marks her shift to their side.

In her speech on Saturday, Christine Razanamahasoa declared that the current situation of the country is not what was promised fifteen years ago during the events of 2009. That she was naive to believe in change. She also reiterated that the problem is not the system but rather the person. The Vice-President of the National Assembly for the province of Mahajanga, Lalao Rahantanirina, states in the TGV-IRD declaration that it is Christine Razanamahasoa who is the problem, as she is the traitor.
