| Businesses will be involved in cleaning up the city of Antananarivo. |
Despite all the efforts made by the municipal team of Antananarivo, the PDS is appealing for help from companies established in the capital. The call is addressed to everyone.
For a capital city that is pleasant to live in and a showcase for the country. The ten days of challenge have passed, and the President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of Antananarivo, Richard Ramanambitana, continues on his path. The municipality is calling for help from the residents of the capital, especially the businesses located there, whether foreign or domestic. The goal is to restore the reputation of the city of a thousand hills so that residents can live in a clean and peaceful environment. This involves addressing the current problems of the municipality, including sanitation, road conditions, and employee satisfaction. “In order to beautify our capital, I am calling for support from people of goodwill. I especially invite businesses to participate because living in a clean environment will be beneficial for everyone,” explains the PDS on Saturday afternoon in his office in Analakely during an interview.
Any form of assistance is welcome, the former senator explains. A “special assistance fund” will be created to receive all contributions, whether financial or in kind. With the recent strike by employees of the Municipal Sanitation Company, one may wonder if the call for help is merely an implicit admission of the financial difficulty of the municipality. The number one of the Urban Municipality of Antananarivo (CUA) explains that this call for help has nothing to do with the municipality’s finances. “This appeal is rather made in a spirit of solidarity and awareness among the residents of the capital, which does not belong only to the leaders but to everyone who lives there,” he said. However, he emphasized that no rewards will be given to donors.
Municipal Revenue
Giving without expecting anything in return. Richard Ramanambitana emphasizes that the assistance provided to the urban municipality is purely voluntary. “With the number of problems to solve and the work to be done, the PDS and his team cannot work alone. It is for this purpose that we seek the help of all collaborators and all those who have the will to support the beautification of the capital,” he explains. Over the remaining seven months of his term, the founding president of the IFI is optimistic about the progress of the municipality’s affairs. He believes that these few months are enough to restore the capital to its former beauty and make its population proud.
Despite being in office for only ten days, the PDS states that the solution to the salary problems at the municipality has already been found. Increasing municipal revenue is the solution recommended by his team. This involves mobilizing citizens to pay their taxes so that the CUA can settle its accounts. The salary for the month of February is already in the hands of the authorities, but no procedures can be overlooked. This salary issue should no longer arise in the coming months, but employees should also guarantee that events like the Friday strike will not happen again.
During the Saturday interview, the capital’s PDS reiterates his willingness to work with everyone within the CUA. Municipal councilors, especially those who are not pro-regime, are among those with whom he must and wants to collaborate. However, he emphasizes that everyone should know their place and contribute in every way possible for the good of the community. The former senator also mentioned that a new organizational chart will soon be put in place to better organize the implementation of the municipality’s projects and, above all, the priorities of the President of the Republic.
