| Richard Ramanambitana received Arnaud Guillois, French Ambassador, at Analakely City Hall yesterday. |
Continuing a longstanding cooperation. This was the goal of the meeting between Arnaud Guillois and Richard Ramanambitana at Analakely yesterday. The issues of the CUA were also discussed during the meeting.
Exemplary. This is how Arnaud Guillois, French Ambassador, described the cooperation between his country and the urban municipality of Antananarivo (CUA). Yesterday, during a courtesy visit to Richard Ramanambitana, president of the special delegation of the capital at Analakely, this cooperation was at the center of discussions. The French diplomat announced that he had reviewed with the PDS all the cooperations between France, through the French Development Agency (AFD), and the capital. He also made it clear that his country is committed to continuing and accelerating investments for Antananarivo. “I have informed Mr. PDS that we wish to continue these investments and even accelerate them for the benefit of Antananarivo,” he exclaimed. The diplomat was accompanied by officials from AFD.
The problems of the capital, including sanitation, urban mobility, and cultural issues, were also discussed during the meeting. On these points, the ongoing projects to address the issues will continue, such as the Integrated Sanitation Project for Antananarivo (PIAA) and the “Lalankely” project. These projects have been ongoing for several years, a testament to the quality of cooperation according to Arnaud Guillois. He happens to be the first ambassador received by the PDS since taking up the position.
For his part, Richard Ramanambitana emphasized that the municipality is also ready to continue cooperation and also announced the willingness of his community.
Urban Mobility
This time, France will focus more on addressing the issue of urban mobility. To this end, a forum will soon be organized jointly by the CUA and the AFD on this issue. Resolving this problem is currently at the center of French actions in Madagascar, according to the ambassador. In all major cities on the island and specifically in the capital, urban mobility remains a growing issue. Arnaud Guillois cites the construction of the ring road a few years ago as one of the solutions already proposed. However, no details about the progress of the work were provided by both parties.
Despite having only a few months left at the helm of the municipality, Richard Ramanambitana stated that the implementation of projects with the AFD will be done as quickly as possible to meet the needs of the population. He also emphasizes cooperation with the French Development Agency on the cultural aspect. A project focused on heritage conservation is currently being developed. At the end of the meeting, the president of the special delegation expressed delight in having a partner like France for the realization of numerous projects.
