| Antananarivo International Airport meets international standards. |
Antananarivo International Airport has been crowned the best airport with less than two million passengers in Africa, according to the Airports Council International (ACI) ranking.
This is the second international award received by this airport since its start of operations in December 2021. In 2022, this airport facility has already secured the second position in the ACI Africa Safety Excellence Award. “Receiving this recognition is an encouragement to redouble efforts in the pursuit of passenger satisfaction and enhancing the image of Madagascar’s premier gateway in Africa and the world,” said Ravinala Airports in a statement. Its team is committed to continually improving service standards at Antananarivo International Airport and thanks passengers for taking the time to respond to surveys and noticing the ongoing improvements made at the airport. Furthermore, Ravinala Airport indicates that it has been supported by the Ministry of Transport and Meteorology in its improvement efforts.
Since its commissioning on December 15, 2021, replacing the old terminal known as Ivato Airport, which has been operational since the 1920s, Antananarivo International Airport has positioned itself at the forefront of technology and complies with international airport standards.
Compliance
For example, the establishment of an operational control center from the start of operations ensures fire safety connected to the Asecna fire station, allowing quick and effective response to any critical situation. In addition, services have been completely digitalized for user safety. Behind Ravinala Airports, the concession management is handled by a consortium consisting of Meridiam, Paris International Airport, Bouygues, and Colas. This consortium operates through a public-private partnership “Build-Operate-Transfer” (BOT) contract with the Malagasy state to operate, manage, and develop the airport for a duration of 28 years, of which three years have already passed. This collaboration has generated thousands of direct and indirect jobs since its establishment.
Since its inception, the airport has received numerous certifications and accreditations, attesting to its compliance with the highest security and quality standards. It participates in the ACI Security Review Examination programs and holds ISO 9001 certifications focusing on the environment and quality. Additionally, it received the Environment & Sustainable Development Award from ACI Africa last year.
