The Padel tournaments, organized by the Malagasy Pro Padel Tour (MPPTour), are happening one after the other, each with its own unique features. This Saturday and Sunday, the third tournament of the year, the Orange MPPTour 100, will take place at the Lamakoo Padel Center in Ambatobe.

As the name suggests, the Orange MPPTour 100 awards one hundred points to the winners of both the men’s and women’s categories. The tournament brings together seventy-two players, including forty-eight boys and twenty-four girls. This tournament reserved for young players is highly anticipated, as the top players will not be participating in either category due to the large number of points they have accumulated in the overall ranking.

“It is an opportunity for players of lower caliber to have a chance to make a name for themselves and especially to accumulate points. This tournament will be mainly marked by the absence of the Robinson sisters, who have won everything since the opening of the circuit in July 2023 in the women’s category. Their absence is due to their ranking and points, which prevent them from participating in the current tournament,” said Gary Ah-Waye, one of the MPPTour organizers.

In the women’s category, the pairs formed by Rianja Rakotovao and Mialy Rajhonson, as well as the sisters Miora and Miary Raoilison, are among the favorites.

In the men’s category, the pairs Rizwane Moussadik and Mathis Marchand, as well as Sébastien Andriantsoa and Franck Ranaivoson, stand out above their peers.

“At present, in Madagascar, especially in the capital, padel is booming. We hope to welcome even more players, especially among the younger ones, to our circuit. This is one of our main long-term goals. We also aspire for Madagascar to gradually become a popular padel destination for enthusiasts worldwide, even though there is still a long way to go,” said Sébastien Andriantsoa and Gary Ah-Waye, co-founders of the MPPT circuit.
