A chilling incident. In the evening before last, a teacher from Arivonimamo high school was coldly killed by an armed gang. Injured by bullets, his partner is also seriously injured.
Hit by projectiles in the shoulder, he later fell into a river at the Ankolomaka bridge, in Talata Miandrandra, in the Arivonimamo district. The deceased and his unfortunate injured partner work as occasional motorcycle taxi drivers. The day before yesterday, late in the afternoon, four bandits who posed as customers offered to take them to Talata Miandrandra.
After discussing the rental fees, the two motorcyclists agreed to drive the four individuals to their destination. They therefore left Arivonimamo to reach Talata Miandrandra, a locality located a few hours away from the district capital.
On the way, the four bandits stopped to buy alcoholic beverages according to the surviving motorcyclist’s accounts.
Shootout
Riding three abreast on the motorcycles behind the drivers, the criminals drank during the journey. Upon reaching the Ankolomaka bridge, the bandits signaled the two motorcycle drivers to stop. They then opened fire without warning.
While one of the motorcyclists escaped death by managing to run away after falling into the river, despite a bullet lodged in his shoulder, his partner, who couldn’t go far, was coldly killed. After the shootout, the bandits took off with the two motorcycles they had stolen. The gendarmerie was quickly alerted to the attack that had just occurred.
Tracked down by the intervention units, the criminals preferred to continue their escape on foot. Having lost control of the situation, the gang abandoned the two motorcycles in the courtyard of a house. The searches continue.
