The late Lizzie Wanyoike, a multi-millionaire who passed away on January 14 after a long battle with fallopian tube cancer, left behind a substantial estate. She sought treatment both locally and abroad before her death and was laid to rest on January 23. Lizzie’s estate includes the Nairobi Institute of Technology and Business Studies, Lizzie Wanyoike Preparatory and Senior Schools, the Emory Hotel, a foundation, and investments in stocks and real estate. In 2018, she was crowned the Businesswoman of the Year.
Her three children, Tony, Stella, and Eric, have promised to peacefully succeed her estate, standing against the family drama often seen in prominent families. Tony, the family spokesman, expressed the family’s reverence for their mother’s spirit and determination to honor her by preserving her legacy progressively, sustainably, and peacefully. He confirmed that Lizzie had trained her children for her investment empire’s long-term integration and had taken steps to reorganize her business empire before her passing.
Lizzie had strategically put her children in charge of different aspects of her business to ensure the family’s involvement in her legacy. She initiated the family’s entry into her business, focusing on growth and development. Tony added that the family is ready to seek the best ways to continue her legacy. He also assured the employees of Lizzie’s businesses that the family recognizes the importance of maintaining a positive work environment.
In the Central region of Kenya, there have been numerous court battles over the succession of late wealthy parents’ properties, which have drawn attention from political figures. However, Lizzie’s children have vowed to handle their mother’s estate peacefully, following her vision and dreams. They, along with other family members, are determined to honor Lizzie’s legacy and maintain the growth and development of her investments.
