A 23-year-old footballer was killed by lightning on Saturday evening while participating in a football tournament involving Catholic sub-parishes in Buwama Town Council.
The deceased, identified as Andrew Makubuya, was struck by lightning at a football pitch in Bbongole Ward, where teams representing Catholic sub-parishes were competing.
The tournament was organised by Mitala Maria Parish at zone level as part of activities leading up to the parish’s Youth Day celebrations.
