Tripoli, Libya – The public prosecution in Libya has taken action against those responsible for the Abu Salim massacre, which resulted in the deaths of 10 individuals. The prosecutor’s office has ordered the arrest and detention of the suspects involved, although they have not been named at this time.

The attorney general’s office made the decision to pursue this case after receiving a report detailing the killings of 10 individuals who had gathered at a house in the Abu Salim area. The reasons behind the killings were said to be varied. Following the report, investigators visited the crime scene, documented their observations, collected evidence, and examined the bodies of the victims.

Autopsy reports revealed that the victims had died from gunshot wounds inflicted by firearms. The prosecution has stated that they have gathered sufficient evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and to identify those responsible for the killings. As a result, the attorney general has instructed the Tripoli security authorities to apprehend and detain the accused suspects.

The incident occurred last Sunday when the Abu Salim police station received a report in the early hours of the morning about the killing of 10 individuals, some of whom were affiliated with the Stability Support Apparatus. They were reportedly attacked by an armed group near the Abushaala Mosque.

Prosecutors and criminal investigators visited the scene of the crime to collect fingerprint evidence and examine the house where the bodies were discovered. The deceased individuals had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and their bodies were taken to the Abu Salim Trauma Hospital morgue. The prosecution has ordered forensic examinations to be carried out to provide more details about the killings.

In response to the massacre, the UN mission in Libya has called for an independent, rapid, and thorough investigation into the incident. They have also urged all parties involved to prevent any further escalation of violence. The UN has previously expressed concerns about the potential risks arising from the ongoing rivalries between security factions in Tripoli.

The situation in Libya remains tense as authorities work to apprehend those responsible for the Abu Salim massacre. The pursuit of justice for the victims is a top priority, and the international community is closely monitoring the developments in the case. More information is expected to be revealed as the investigation progresses.
