Supporters of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s ruling Unity Party in Nimba County are becoming increasingly frustrated over the lack of government employment opportunities. More than ten thousand Nimba residents who supported President Boakai and the Unity Party are now threatening to stage sustained protests in the county to demand action on this issue.
Despite their efforts to reach out to the UP leadership and executives, the aggrieved supporters feel that their concerns have been ignored. They have been instructed to contact the leadership of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), led by Senator Prince Johnson and Vice President Jeremiah Koung, for any potential appointments. However, the supporters feel that this preference for the MDR over their own party is unfair and disrespectful.
Moses Ghicarn, the spokesperson for the group and head of the district coordinators in Nimba, expressed their frustration with the lack of response from the government. He stated that the upcoming protests will continue until their demands are addressed. The supporters have vowed not to cooperate with any government officials appointed by President Boakai until their grievances are resolved.
The supporters believe that the MDR leadership is benefiting unfairly from job opportunities in Nimba, while those affiliated with the Unity Party are being ignored. They are determined to bring attention to this issue and demand respect from the national leadership of the ruling party.
This is not the first time that supporters of the ruling UP in Nimba have raised concerns about job opportunities. President Boakai’s appointments have been met with resistance from individuals who feel marginalized by the preference given to the MDR. The situation has escalated to the point where supporters are now threatening sustained protests to make their voices heard.
In conclusion, the supporters of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and the Unity Party in Nimba County are frustrated with the lack of government employment opportunities and are prepared to take action to address this issue. They feel that their party leadership has prioritized the MDR over their own members, and they are determined to fight for their fair share of job opportunities in the county. The upcoming protests are a symbol of their commitment to advocating for their rights and demanding respect from the government.
