The University of Liberia (UL) has established a strong partnership with Sharda University (SU) of India, aimed at fostering collaboration and mutual benefits between the two institutions. The journey towards this partnership began with a memorandum of understanding signed in India in 2022, focusing on knowledge transfer, faculty and administrative staff collaboration, student exchange, and other key areas of cooperation.
The induction of the UL-Sharda Joint Commission, which took place on March 7, 2024, at the UL Capitol Hill campus in Monrovia, Liberia, marked a significant milestone in this partnership. The ceremony brought together key authorities from both universities, as well as faculty, staff, and students, highlighting the commitment of both institutions to working together towards common goals.
The President of the University of Liberia, Prof. Dr. Julius Julukon Sarwolo Nelson, Jr., and the President of Sharda Group of Companies/ Sharda University of India, Dr. Ashok Daryani, signed on behalf of their respective institutions during the commissioning ceremony. This formalized the collaboration and set the stage for future initiatives and projects that will benefit students, faculty, and researchers from both universities.
The University of Liberia has been actively seeking opportunities for collaboration with universities outside Liberia, recognizing the value of academic freedom and creative thinking in a global context. By partnering with institutions like Sharda University, known for its excellence in education, research, and innovation, UL aims to further enhance its academic offerings and provide valuable experiences for its students and staff.
