The Liberian Senate leadership has identified the Senate Committee on Defense, Security, Intelligence, and Veteran Affairs, along with the Judiciary, Claims, and Petitions Committee, as the most productive committees during the first quarter of the legislative session. This recognition was made by Liberian Senate President Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, who commended the chairs of these committees for their outstanding performance.

Senator Cllr. Augustine S. Chea of Sinoe County heads the Judiciary Committee, while Senator Momo Cyrus of Lofa County chairs the Defense Committee. Pro-Tempore Karnga-Lawrence made the announcement on Tuesday, 2 April 2024, during a special statement to the Senate plenary.

In response to the recognition, Senator Cyrus expressed his gratitude for being acknowledged as the chair of the most productive committee in the Senate. He attributed this success to the collaborative efforts of the 15 members of the Defense and Security Committee. Senator Cyrus also thanked his office staff for their support and dedication to the committee’s work.

Elected by the people of Lofa County, Senator Cyrus emphasized his commitment to serving their interests and the nation as a whole. He viewed the recognition as a validation of his hard work, dedication, and love for the country. Despite being relatively new to the Liberian Senate, Senator Cyrus was honored to receive such an accolade from Pro-Tempore Karnga-Lawrence.

Acknowledging the support of his family, including his wife and children, Senator Cyrus expressed his determination to continue serving with diligence and loyalty to his constituents. He reassured the people of Lofa County that he would not waver in his dedication to their welfare, regardless of any challenges or obstacles that may arise.

Senator Cyrus promised to uphold his responsibilities with integrity and unwavering commitment, demonstrating his steadfast loyalty to the citizens of Lofa County. He pledged to remain true to his mandate as a Senator and Chairman of the Committee on National Defense and Security, prioritizing the needs and voices of his constituency above all else.

Overall, the recognition of the Defense and Security Committee as the most productive committee in the Liberian Senate reflects the hard work, dedication, and collaborative spirit of its members, led by Senator Momo Cyrus. As they continue to serve the interests of the country and its citizens, the committee sets a standard of excellence and commitment to public service in the Liberian Senate.
