The Liberia Scrap Dealer Association (LSDA) has recently welcomed a new leadership team, tasked with evaluating government policies that impact the sector. The LSDA plans to conduct a thorough review of all public policies that are deemed detrimental to the economic growth of the scrap industry.

President of the LSDA, Mr. Ayouba Kamara, emphasized the need to address government policies that are impeding the sector’s progress. He expressed concern that these policies are harming the economic and general interests of individuals who depend on the scrap industry for their livelihoods.

Mr. Kamara highlighted the role of the Inter-Agency Scrap Regulator Committee, chaired by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, in overseeing and enforcing scrap regulations. He noted that under the previous administration, there was a lack of attention to monitoring scrap prices in the country.

Committing to upholding the rule of law within the scrap sector, Mr. Kamara pledged to ensure compliance with policies and regulations governing the acquisition and processing of scrap in Liberia. He expressed gratitude to President Joseph Nyumah Boakai and Vice President Jeremiah K. Koung for their support and vowed to collaborate with the government to attract investors and enhance the country’s economic sector.

The official induction and certification of Mr. Ayouba Kamara and his team as the new leadership of the Liberia Scrap Dealer Association took place during a ceremony attended by partners and well-wishers. This event marked the organization’s 5th inaugural program, highlighting its ongoing commitment to advancing the interests of the scrap industry.

In conclusion, the LSDA’s new leadership team is poised to advocate for policy reforms that support the growth and sustainability of the scrap sector in Liberia. By engaging with government stakeholders and promoting adherence to regulations, the association aims to create a conducive environment for those involved in the scrap industry to thrive and contribute to the country’s economic development. Through collaboration and strategic partnerships, the LSDA endeavors to drive positive change and foster a thriving scrap industry that benefits individuals and communities reliant on this sector for their livelihoods.
