In Nimba, the search is on for a replacement for former Vice President Jeremiah Koung, who vacated his seat in the Liberian Senate after being elected in November 2023. Koung had run on the rescue ticket of President Boakai, leaving a vacant spot that needs to be filled. Among those vying for this position is Nimba District#5 Representative Samuel G. Kogar, who has declared his intention to run for the Senate.
Representative Kogar has been receiving significant endorsements from his kinsmen in Nimba County to represent them at the county level. The youth, women, and elders of Lesonnon Chiefdom have shown their support for Kogar’s candidacy in the upcoming senatorial by-election scheduled for April. They believe that Kogar has brought pride to Nimbaians and the entire country through his leadership in the House of Representatives.
The by-election is being held to fill the seat left vacant by ex-Senator Jeremiah Kpan Koung’s election as Vice President. Former Senator Thomas Grupee has also entered the race for the Senate in Nimba. The citizens of Nimba have expressed their confidence in Representative Kogar’s ability to represent them effectively, citing his track record of good representation and development initiatives in the district.
During a recent endorsement ceremony in the chiefdom, Mr. Cyrus Konah, who chaired the petition process, highlighted the positive impact that Kogar has had on the district. He emphasized Kogar’s dedication to fulfilling his promises and implementing various development projects in the area, such as the construction of community infrastructure and financial support for education and youth programs.
Konah commended Kogar for his commitment to the people of Nimba and Liberia, noting that he has been the longest-serving representative for the county since its establishment in 1964. Kogar has demonstrated his leadership by delivering on his promises and spearheading initiatives that benefit the community.
In response to the overwhelming support from the citizens, Representative Samuel Kogar pledged to continue working for the betterment of the district and its residents if elected to the Senate. He promised to promote unity and peace among Nimbaians and expand development projects to all 19 administrative districts of the county.
As the race for the Senate in Nimba heats up, representatives like Kogar are positioning themselves to step into leadership roles and make a positive impact on their communities. With the support of his constituents, Kogar aims to carry on his legacy of service and development in Nimba County.
