The Liberia National Police has issued an early warning to the public, specifically targeting drivers, to be vigilant about upcoming safety regulations. This caution comes as a measure to protect lives and property across the country.

In a press release dated Thursday, March 21, 2024, the Police Spokesman H. Moses Carter, II, emphasized the importance of adhering to these safety measures. One of the key regulations highlighted in the release is the removal of unauthorized vehicles equipped with high beam lights, sirens, flashers, and other emergency devices. Additionally, right-hand drive vehicles are prohibited from being driven on the streets in Liberia, as stated by the country’s Vehicle and Traffic Laws.

Furthermore, the LNP has announced the removal of non-gas station gasoline sellers, commonly referred to as “can-boys,” situated along the main streets in Monrovia and other parts of the country. The police also issued a warning to vehicle operators who habitually use the opposite lane, urging them to cease this behavior immediately.

Vehicle owners, including those with tri-cycles (Keke) and motorcycles, are urged to ensure that their vehicles are registered, insured, and that all necessary documents are up to date. These measures are intended to create a safe environment for motorists and pedestrians and to prevent any potential risks to public safety.

Following nationwide consultations, the Liberia National Police will soon conduct general inspections to ensure that all vehicles are roadworthy and that drivers are compliant with the country’s vehicle and traffic laws. This proactive approach aims to enforce regulations that will enhance road safety and prevent accidents.

The public is urged to cooperate with law enforcement authorities and to adhere to the announced safety measures. By complying with these regulations, individuals can contribute to reducing risks on the roads and promoting a safer environment for all road users.

In conclusion, the Liberia National Police’s early warning serves as a reminder for drivers and the general public to prioritize safety and adhere to the upcoming regulations. By working together to uphold these measures, individuals can contribute to the overall well-being and security of the community.
