An orderly transfer of power has taken place at the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) in Monrovia on March 1st, as the C. Mike Doryen administration under the CDC government handed over the leadership to the incoming Managing Director, Rudolph Merah. The turnover ceremony was held at the Shed Kadea Board Room at the FDA head office in Monrovia, and it was described as a democratically fashioned event where power was handed over peacefully.

Representatives from key local and international partners in the forestry sector, such as Conservation International (CI), European Union (EU), and Liberia Timber Association, attended the ceremony and pledged their support to the new administration. Government officials including former Gbarpou Senator Armah Jallah, Rivercess Senator Geevon Smith, and Representative Romeo Quiah were also present and expressed their commitment to working closely with the new leadership to achieve their goals in the forest sector.

During his turn over statement, outgoing Managing Director C. Mike Doryen highlighted the achievements of his administration, including keeping the FDA united and free from any witch hunts. However, he mentioned facing opposition from some international partners due to his firm stance on protecting Liberia’s rights. He urged the incoming administration to continue representing FDA on the international stage with pride, emphasizing Liberia’s reputation as a global conservation hotspot.

In his acceptance speech, incoming Managing Director Rudolph Merah pledged to remain loyal to the state and people, focusing on advancing the forestry sector through Conservation, Commercial, and Community forestry programs. He emphasized his commitment to keeping the FDA free from politics, basing decisions on performance rather than partisanship. Merah, a seasoned businessman, expressed his dedication to turning FDA into a prominent forestry hub and upholding the trust placed in him by President Joseph Nyumah Boakai.

Merah, a devout individual, highlighted his determination to bring honor to Liberia through his work at FDA, emphasizing the importance of patriotism, nationalism, and honesty. He called for unity, collaboration, and a dedicated workforce driven by love for their country.

The ceremony was attended by various government officials and stakeholders in the forestry sector, all showing their support for the new leadership and their commitment to working together for the benefit of all stakeholders. The peaceful transfer of power at FDA reflects a commitment to democratic principles and a desire to continue advancing the forestry sector in Liberia.

In conclusion, the turnover ceremony at the FDA marks a significant transition in leadership, with the incoming Managing Director pledging to uphold the values of the organization and work towards its continued success. The event was a symbol of unity and collaboration among government officials, international partners, and stakeholders, all aiming to ensure the prosperity of the forestry sector in Liberia.
