The Mano River Union Youth Parliament Liberia Chapter (MRUYP-LC) has expressed disapproval of the protesters who have been calling for the removal of Mr. Debba Allen as Country Manager of BMMC. The organization emphasized that the proper legal avenue to address concerns about BMMC’s actions is through the violation of the Mineral Development Agreement (MDA).

In response to the recent violent protests in Kingor and the Matambo corridors, which resulted in loss of life, injuries, and property damage, the MRUYP-LC is demanding a swift investigation and prosecution by the national government. This is seen as crucial in order to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

Speaking to a crowd in Grand Cape Mount County, MRUYP-LC Speaker Mr. Daniel N. Nills reiterated the organization’s stance against the protests calling for Mr. Allen’s removal. He pointed out that such actions could detract from the core issues of concern regarding BMMC and emphasized that the MDA is the appropriate legal mechanism for holding the company accountable.

The MRUYP-LC is willing to participate in peaceful actions aimed at addressing BMMC’s violations of the MDA. However, the organization also urges protesters to avoid actions that may violate the constitution in the process. It is emphasized that the focus should remain on the legitimate grievances against BMMC and not on individual personnel such as Mr. Allen.

The MRUYP-LC highlighted that Mr. Allen, as the only Liberian and black member of BMMC’s Board, should not be targeted without legal justification. Such actions could potentially hinder the ongoing investigation into the grievances against BMMC, including unaddressed issues related to loss of life and property damage as outlined in the petition within the MDA.

In conclusion, the MRUYP-LC called for all parties involved to focus on the real agenda at hand, which is to address the violations of the MDA and hold BMMC accountable in a patriotic and lawful manner. The organization stressed the importance of adhering to legal processes and avoiding actions that may undermine the pursuit of justice and resolution in this matter.
