Monrovia-April-17-2024-TNR:House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa has emphasized the need for a strong and professional fire service sector to combat fire incidents effectively, especially in challenging circumstances.
Following a recent fire incident at his residence, Speaker Koffa addressed a press conference, stressing the importance of having trained professionals within the Liberia National Fire Service to establish a robust system for managing and preventing fires in communities.
The Speaker of the 55th Legislature highlighted the devastating consequences of recent fire disasters in Liberia, leading to loss of life due to the lack of skilled professionals in the sector.
Speaker Fonati Koffa reiterated the urgency of improving the system and taking proactive measures to safeguard lives and prevent unnecessary harm.
He emphasized the critical need for more fire service professionals, stating that a strong system for managing fires is essential for the safety of neighborhoods.
Additionally, House Speaker Koffa called for decisive action by members of the Legislature to enhance the well-being of citizens and address critical issues affecting the community.
Acknowledging his own experience with a recent fire outbreak at his residence, Speaker Fonati Koffa expressed gratitude to neighbors, the President, former President George Weah, and colleagues for their support during the challenging situation.
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Liberia National Fire Service, Speaker Koffa highlighted the urgent need for support from patriotic citizens and government officials to assist his family in overcoming the aftermath of the incident.
In a recent fire incident on Sunday evening, Speaker Fonati Koffa’s house in the Rehab Community in Paynesville was engulfed in flames, resulting in the loss of property and belongings.
