The Bishop of the Zion Christian Fellowship (ZCF) in Liberia, Payne Clarke, has raised concerns about the increasing spread of hate political speeches by followers of politicians in the country. In an exclusive interview in Kakata, Bishop Clarke expressed alarm and worry over the direction politics has taken in Liberia. He pointed out that the current state of politics in the country is causing fear among the people, especially due to the desperation and heartlessness exhibited by politicians and their supporters.
Bishop Clarke emphasized the detrimental impact of the disorderly manner in which politics is conducted in Liberia. He warned that if Liberians do not change their approach to politics, the country will continue to regress, leading to prolonged suffering and stagnation for its citizens. He particularly condemned the use of hate speeches, abusive language, and physical attacks by politicians’ followers, urging for a more civilized and respectful discourse in the political landscape.
The Bishop highlighted the selfish motives and ignorance behind many individuals engaging in destructive political behaviors. He emphasized the need for Liberians to think critically about their actions, especially considering that politicians often do not have a personal connection with their followers. He urged supporters to refrain from being manipulated by politicians for their own agendas.
While acknowledging that politicians may encourage divisive behaviors among their followers, Bishop Clarke admonished supporters to exercise discernment and not allow themselves to be exploited for political gain. He also criticized the tendency of some Liberians to oppose politicians simply based on personal biases, rather than objectively evaluating their actions and policies.
Reflecting on past instances where individuals vowed to obstruct progress during certain presidencies, Bishop Clarke stressed the importance of supporting national development initiatives regardless of political affiliations. He emphasized the need for unity and cooperation for the betterment of the nation and its people, regardless of who is in power.
The Bishop reassured that he stands by the principle of supporting any development that benefits the nation, as he recognizes that ultimately, all Liberians stand to gain from progress and prosperity. He called on fellow citizens to denounce negative behaviors and embrace positive changes for the advancement of the country.
In conclusion, Bishop Payne Clarke urged Liberians to resist the temptation of engaging in divisive and destructive political activities. He emphasized the importance of promoting unity, respect, and collaboration in the political arena to ensure a brighter future for Liberia and its people. By fostering a culture of constructive dialogue and mutual respect, the Bishop believes that Liberia can overcome its challenges and progress towards a more prosperous and peaceful future.
