In less than two weeks after the management of Bea Mountain Mining Corporation broke ground for the repair of damaged road spots in Monrovia, there has been significant progress. The company had previously commenced road construction and hand pump construction in Cape Mount, demonstrating its commitment to improving infrastructure in the area.
The damaged spots being repaired are located on the Ibrahim Bambagida highway, connecting the Main junction to Garwula District in Grand Cape Mount County. At the ground breaking ceremony, Hon Mohammed Dosii, the District Two Lawmaker of Grand Cape Mount County, expressed his gratitude to Bea Mountain Mining Corporation for honoring his request for the repairs.
Dosii explained that he had met with BMMC management to discuss roadside brushing, and was pleased that they agreed to undertake the project. He emphasized that the initiative was a form of youth empowerment, as the young people of Grand Cape Mount County would be involved in the road side brushing activities. Dosii also announced plans to continue such initiatives annually, extending all the way to Bo Waterside, which marks the boundary between Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The lawmaker pledged to collaborate with the company for the benefit of the communities in Grand Cape Mount County, praising BMMC for their corporate initiatives and commitment to working with the local people. The Government and Community Relations Manager for BMMC, Mr. Alpaslan Ozbilge, affirmed the company’s dedication to carrying out impactful projects for the communities, citing recent projects such as road rehabilitation and borehole hand pump construction.
Ozbilge emphasized that as long as BMMC operates in these communities, they will continue to provide projects to empower citizens, particularly the youth. At the ground breaking ceremony, both Hon. Dosii and Mr. Ozbilge actively participated in the road side brushing, highlighting the collaborative nature of the project and the company’s hands-on approach to community engagement.
This initiative by Bea Mountain Mining Corporation sets a positive example for corporate social responsibility and community development. The company’s commitment to improving infrastructure and empowering the local population serves as a model for other companies operating in similar regions. By working hand in hand with the community leaders and actively involving local residents in projects, BMMC is creating a lasting impact on the lives of the people in Grand Cape Mount County.
